2 years ago our power went out during the hottest day of the year. My girls were fine. Me? Not so much. LOL I too was popped corn! I am so having that phrase !
When we had two long haired cats, we’d get them shaved in June just as the hot weather arrived. They’d get back to the house with a spring in their step, prancing around.
My 2 lunatic Maine c**n x’s will spend hours asleep in the sun on the catio. The only time they’ve been really bothered by heat was during our heat domes and it was nearly 40C outside and worse inside
Cats definitely become semi-solid in hot weather. Don’t get too carried away with “protecting” them. Cats evolved as desert animals and can easily survive in temperatures that would kill a human being.
It stinks when it’s unbearably hot in the Summer. Of course, it also stinks when it’s freezing cold in the Winter and there’s tons of snow on the ground.
The hotter the day, the longer the cat! All of our Furry Overlords (& one Furry Overlady) did not care for the Summer Heat, just the radient rays streaming thru the windows of our A/C-cooled house.

Mine would rather be on the hot screened porch than in the cool a/c inside.

My cats hold protest signs. “We’re Cats not Chickens! Quit trying to roast us.”

I love Pippi splooting on the floor with that annoyed expression on her face.

Poor cats!
Even in the heat, the cats go out on the catio and laze in the cat tree. Having solar power means we have reliable ac without a horrid bill.
