Well, he’s right that the mentality changed. Just as after Pearl Harbor, our attitude towards Japanese-Americans abruptly changed — and with about as much reason. We ignored the due process clause in the Constitution then because it suited our purposes, and we’ll ignore it again for the same reason. Our morality tends to be situational.

Thing is, on 9/11, the attackers were not illegals smuggled in. They came in on valid visas. Focusing on smuggled migrants won’t prevent another 9/11. It wouldn’t’ even prevent the first one, so it’s a rather foolish thing to invoke here, except for an extremely superficial and emotional cheap shot.
