Rather have Pres. Biden on a bad day than a lying convicted felon that incites riots.

trump claimed that Democrats allow “after birth” abortion and the moderators’ only response was “thank you”?

trump said that some Democratic states allow people to execute babies after they’re born and that every legal scholar wanted Roe v. Wade overturned—both fantastical lies. He said that the deficit is at its highest level ever and that the U.S. trade deficit is at its highest ever: both of those things happened during his administration. He lied that there were no terrorist attacks during his presidency; there were many. He said that Biden wants to quadruple people’s taxes— “pure fiction,” —and lied that his tax cuts paid for themselves; they have, in fact, added trillions of dollars to the national debt.

trump lied that the U.S. has provided more aid to Ukraine than Europe has when it’s the other way around, and he was off by close to $100 billion when he named the amount the U.S. has provided to Ukraine. He was off by millions when he talked about how many migrants have crossed the border under Biden, and falsely claimed that some of Biden’s policies—like funding historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and reducing the price of insulin to $35 a month—were his own accomplishments.

trump also directly accused Biden of his own failings and claimed Biden’s own strengths, saying, for example, that Biden, who has enacted the most sweeping legislation of any president since at least Lyndon Johnson, couldn’t get anything done while he, who accomplished only tax cuts(that blew up the debt), was more effective. He responded to the calling out of his own criminal convictions by saying that Biden “could be a convicted felon,” and falsely stating: “This man is a criminal.” And, repeatedly, trump called America a “failing nation” and described it as a hellscape.

There is no point in going on, because virtually everything he said was a lie.

It simply amazes me that Trump seems to be unable to learn from his own mistakes. He went into this debate determined to endlessly repeat lie after lie about himself and “the Left”, which all have been debunked repeatedly. In that, he succeeded in telling the lies. Above, dotbup and others have enumerated just a small portion of his lies.

This time, though, he had no adoring MAGAt cultists cheering him on. Only Joe was there, and Joe cut him to ribbons by speaking facts and calling out his lies. Joe beat him to pieces for his fearmongering.

Trump relied on being able to score debate points on his making everything concerning this election about the “border crisis” that he himself created. Also, he tried on the concept that “the lying Left” wants to kill babies. Joe cut him off at the ankles, leaving only his feet to try and tap-dance his way around his own prevarications.

Joe won the debate, hands down.

Biden did not do the one thing he needed to do yesterday: present himself as other than what the GOP memes have been saying.

Meanwhile, Trump is given a pass because he’s just being Trump. Why is that the standard? Where is the GOP angst over putting up such a person for the most important job in the world? Why is lying, ignorance, avoiding questions and behaving in a generally nasty (m’wife’s description of him) way less disqualifying than Biden’s debate issues?

Maybe the Democrat’s slogan should be, “Both guys are old, but we really do hire the finest people”.

Better hope Pres. Biden doesn’t drop out. I imagine that a debate against, say Gov. Newsome, would go quite differently. All the comments Mr. Trump has made against the President’s age would come back to haunt him.

If you were gullible enough to believe the, “sharp as a tack” nonsense maybe you should reconsider that maybe you were LIED to regarding countless other Trump hoaxes. No, he just had a bad day/s.

I’m still planning to vote for Joe as I vote for anybody to keep Trump from becoming president. I truly think the Democrats will replace Biden. Remember things like this take time.

Should Pres Biden withdraw, I will support whoever the Democratic Party agrees to have as the party’s nominee. The party’s convention will be on Aug 19-22 in Chicago. VP Kamala Harris, CA Gov Gavin Newsome, Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer and Transp Secretary Pete Buttigieg are among those mentioned as possible replacement and I plan to help elect any one of the four for POTUS. trump01135809 is a cancer that should never be allowed to get back to the WH. No member of the ‘Republican’ Party, with their clear unquestioned support for that CONVICTED FELON/COUP PLOTTER and their unforgiveable treason of putting their personal and party’s interest over the betterment of the US and thus, the world, should be elected in any of the coming elections.

Trump told some lies and exaggerations during the debate. The left-leaning commenters on this board, along with practically every mainstream media source on the planet, are holding Trump accountable for every lie, every exaggeration.

Biden told some lies and exaggerations during the debate. The left-leaning commenters on this board, along with practically every mainstream media source on the planet, are ignoring those lies, saying that “Biden was completely truthful”, putting their fingers in their ears and saying “la-la-la-la-I-am-not-listening” anytime someone attempts to point out Biden’s lies.

If my choice for POTUS is between two liars, I’ll take the one that the media and the public will hold accountable for what he says, and that’s only one candidate: Trump. This beatification of the (still alive, sort of) Biden should be a concern for anyone wanting their leaders to be held accountable.

If Biden decides to drop out of the race and have someone like Gov. Newsom (CA) or Gov. Whitmer (MI) replace him at the Democratic Convention, that’s his decision (and his family’s decision). While the NYT and WaPo are calling for Biden to step down, the Philadelphia Inquirer has called for DJT to drop out of the race instead. At the debate, Biden was under the weather and had flown in from Europe shortly before the event. Biden was far stronger at his speech in NC the day after the debate. And we still have five months to go before the election. We have the Conventions (and we’ll see if the hoo hah over Biden’s debate performance boils over by then), Trump’s sentencing in the NYC hush money case, and the second debate. We’ll see how that transposes.
