Pop-up books are not the right kind of books for the library to carry. They won’t last long.

Popular literary joke (really!) from the 19th century:

    Q: “Do you like Kipling?”

    A: “I don’t know. I’ve never kippled.”

    Tolkien wasn’t a good writer.

Now that I’ve got your attention, let me clear it up by saying that his stories were so good, it didn’t matter. He was good enough to convey what he meant, and hold your attention.

What remained with you, was not his writing, but the story itself.

Which is why, if you have a great story, you should write it, regardless of your writing prowess.

On the other hand, just because you’re a great writer, if you don’t have a story, you should not write, regardless of your writing prowess.

Lots of people writing, nowadays, thousands of books coming out every day. No skills, no story.

Derivative? Pah! Ernesto doesn’t know what he’s talking about – there’s not a single dragon ridden in all of Tolkien’s works.

One of my favorites. Ernesto was Cul de Sac’s most interesting character.

The best in that series is Dirk Dragonslapper Volume 17: Goblins, Shmoblins.

In Idaho and Oklahoma many libraries are IDing patrons and refusing entry to those < 18 thanks to state laws prohibiting minors having access to “offensive” materials.

The next tropical storm in the Atlantic is going to be called Ernesto. I wonder where they got the notion?

Is Ernesto wearing flip-flops? Seems very out of character, but honestly it is hard to tell for sure.

Poor Petey. First the douchery of Ernesto, and then the horrors of Pop-Up books.
