Back in ‘94, I had a second job, night stocking an outdoor lumberyard, from 6 PM to midnight. The store closed at eight, and that is when they would turn up the radio, through the speakers in the yard. They listened to a top 40 country radio station. It got to the point that I was borderline homicidal, after the fifth time hearing Achy Breaky Heart in a night.
I took my family to a Mexican restaurant and had to listen to Barry Manilow music the entire meal. I asked the waitress if they would play something different and she said the manager liked Manilow and wouldn’t change it. I never went back.
