A racoon contending with an attacking dog will often flip onto its back. When the dog is dealing with its teeth, razor sharp claws are used to rip the guts out of the dog.
Are there habitats so completely free of wild critters the right size to use pet doors that it makes sense to install a pet door? Or is there a way to discourage unauthorized users? I know pet doors exist but I don’t understand how unwanted visitors are kept out.

It’s working out great for the raccoons, but I don’t think anyone else will appreciate their visit.
