When living in Lynchburg, VA, there was a coal yard on our street. My mother thought it would be easier to buy coal to heat using our fireplace in the den instead of firewood. I can tell you that starting a fire with coals is a lot harder than cured firewood. But, once you got it started, it would burn a lot longer and easier to stoke. Of course, it was my job to build the fire and clean up. Go figure.

Could be worse. They could have been repaving the street.

Those two had better go through a car wash before they go into the house.

Could be worse. The next town over in the other direction has a manure yard.

I’ve wondered why he is orange during the week and brown on Sundays. Now there’s a third choice.

Marm ………. You mean in that whole run …….You couldn’t have found a big puddle, stream, pond or lake to run through and get cleaned off ……. :)
