Why’s obvious! Because it takes too long to go around.

A: To get away from Colonel Sanders.

It was to prove that the chicken crossed before the egg.

Appropriate to the toon, i saw a tin sign at one of my favorite book stores that read “ I Dream of A World Where Chickens Can Cross The Road Without Having Their Motives Questioned”

are you all still discussing this? i knew long ago that chickens cross the road to get to the other side!

When I live in a rural area and when think about it, I have seen many critters, or the remains of them, crossing the road but never have I actually seen a chicken crossing a road.

It’s a conspiracy! The chicken never crossed the road! A movie company rebuilt the road behind the chicken!

Maybe it’s like climbing Mt. Everest: Why did the chicken cross the road? … Because it’s there. … [This picture does shows why chickens cross the road here: … Because there’s a crosswalk here.]

The chickens didn’t want to cross the road. They didn’t even live by the road. They were brought there in crates from another county and herded across. The scene was staged for a Disney documentary because lemmings had already been done.

Around here very few actually use the crosswalks. They just cross wherever for convenience, even when it may be only a couple of steps to crosswalk!

The answer to why the chicken crossed the the road is really simple. It’s not like every chicken crosses the road for the same reason all the time, nor that all chickens cross for the same reason.
