You need to be able to travel in time and space. Any time travel will find the earth millions of miles away. Too many successful time travelers blew up and froze to death in space, leaving everybody trying to figure out the big cabinets in the basement.

If time travel was available, people would be more liable to travel to the future to see if we are still around. But then do we really want to know?
