Why did talk radio become a thing, again? Listening to music is on the commute is so much more relaxing.

Talk is cheaper than music where royalties are due

in case there is anyone who think mark is being mean without reason lol his dad was a ceo of a big ..conglomerate.. maybe? anyway, he had a pretty bad attitude and deserves whatever witticisms Mark throws at him !

After KSAN in SF folded, there was nothing left for me

I live in NW Ohio, and the public radio station, with four transmitters in this quadrant, is one of the relatively few that is still primarily classical music during the week. On the weekends they feature the gamut of NPR shows to include quiz shows, This American Life, Wait Wait Don’t tell Me, etc. On weekend nights there is classic jazz, and New Age. This is a real gem for the area.

My favorite is WAMU, NPR in DC, on Sundays @ 7 PM they have “The Big Broadcast” which is old time radio shows. Johnny Dollar, Dragnet, Gunsmoke, and various variety shows. It is the highest rated radio in the District every week.

You can tell that this strip is a rerun from 2001, when the question “What’s the market for thoughtless, toxic commentary on the radio?” was considered to be ludicrous. Then along came Sinclair Broadcasting, which demonstrated that just such a market is in fact huge.

The Rethuglicans are always looking for new material, especially now that they can’t use all their “Let’s go Brandon” or “FJB” merch.

Finally, a bit of truth in the last panel!

They have a very weird relationship

“Morrie” died of ALS. There are two forms. My wife had the kind that starts in the throat and lost the power of speech the first year. She didn’t get any last utterances, writings or anything else. If you get a choice (which you don’t), pick some other way to die.

Has nobody heard of podcasts? My favourite is Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson. They don’t just talk about stars, he gets the best scientists around for all kinds of topics that intersect with science. Always interesting and entertaining.

Mark’s dad’s last words might be toooo tragic to be entertaining.
