Don’t adopt an American child, they don’t need adoption. (I don’t get why people do this)

Trying to remember the strip where a guy was openly musing about adopting an 18 y/o Asian girl…

I’m glad I was adopted. The only other option was to have my neck broken, be thrown in a food processor and fed to cats

My two foster sons grew up to be far better and more responsible adults than my biological son.

Here in the present, of course, we know that Mark and Chase never adopted and ultimately broke up. However, in the years when Mark was in denial about himself, he might have slept with a few women and he might have gotten one or more of THEM pregnant so buck up, Phil, oh, wait, you’re dead now, anyway.

Maybe Dear ol’ Dad would be more understanding if there was a surrogate involved.

As a step-grandfather I can assure you it is not the same thing. None of my wife’s children have contacted me since shortly after she died in 2006. My wife and I were together for ten years and I cared for her personally when she contracted ALS. Only one of the stepchildren assisted in any way with her care and another of them nearly had me arrested when I was saving her mother’s life every 20 minutes. So, they are not a great loss for me.
