We once had a cat that did exactly that. He would holler to go out, but when the door was opened, he went half way out and couldn’t make up his mind whether to go out or not. A gentle tap with the side of a foot helped him make up his mind.
Madame does this to me every morning.I’m up at four, she is sitting outside (mewing) looking in the glass door, I go open the door AND she turns around & walks back out into the yard.
