These bike crash strips reflect a reality of my childhood: They happened, we never had protective gear, and they never stopped you from riding (and crashing) again.
One time, when I was 8 or 9, my bike broke clean in half, right at the crank. I was on my way to my friend’s house and was more devastated about my bike being broken than I was being bloody. I walked the rest of the way, crying, and knocked on their door. When my friend’s mom answered the door and saw me crying and holding half a bike in each hand, I had NO idea how hilarious I must have looked. But being the great mom she was, she somehow kept from laughing and had me come in to clean up my bloody scrapes.

Boys….yesterday you both accused each other about never learning your lessons. Yet, you keep ending up in these kinds of bicycle incidents.

Just remember that it is not when you go flying over the handlebars, it is the impact with the pavement that comes a second later.
