I managed to work at jobs that held my interest, for the most part, until I retired. I had prepared myself for retirement, thankfully before COVID had become full blown. I did feel, with my knowledge and experience, I could’ve been promoted if my superiors truly appreciated my performance but that was not the case. And, having two factors that put me at serious risk, with swabs up the nose every two weeks for COVID testing, I decided to cash in my chips and retire. I’ve never regretted that. It’s freedom that I’ve never known. Luckily, I was financially well-off with mortgage paid off, no debt and receiving three pensions.

That’s how my job in the Dallas DEA Lab was becoming in 1995, with endless paperwork, so I retired at age 55.

Been there. And as with most annoying coworkers, I kept my head down and outlasted the SOB.
