The Iliad is called that because Ilium was another name for Troy, and the -ad suffix used to mean “The Story of”.
So, if we translated the title, The Iliad should actually be called Troy Story

I’m actually rereading the Iliad right now, The Lattimore translation. It’s a timeless story of men and war. Most people only know The Odyssey which is basically a boy’s fantasy.
