The beard I’ve had since H.S. I’ve shaved it off only four times since, for parts. For example: Daddy Warbucks didn’t have a beard. I started going bald in college. By my mid-thirties, I realized I was paying the then outrageous sum of $25.00 every few weeks for five minutes of “ring trimming”. Shaved my head, but kept the beard. It’s been my look since the ’90’s.
We have a dear old grandpa, for whom we nightly pray. He has a set of whiskers that are always in the way. Oh, they’re always in the way! The cows eat them for hay! We all love grandpa’s whiskers but they’re always in the way.
I wonder about those guys whose mustache completely covers their mouths. How do they eat? Bob Weir has that look now, like the cowboy on the Pure Prairie League album covers.

Said the man with a beard,
“It’s just as I feared.
Two owls and a hen,
Four larks and a wren
have all made their nests in my beard."

At some point, many try the comb-up-over but it’s hard to see out.
