My wife has noticed that a squirrel keeps digging into new mulch but she noted that she’s has found buried peanuts in the yard. We used to put out raw peanuts for Blue Jays but those knuckleheads would bury them. I think the little rodent was looking for them.
The squirrels where I live often demonstrate disturbingly intelligent behavior, almost like this. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them at the voting booths in November.
