I’ve thought for a long time that too many people are too concerned with having a lawn of nothing but grass, never much more or less than a certain height, and always richly green. I’m not a Green or any kind of raging environmentalist, but this relatively modern fad of carpet-like lawns is an abuse of nature.
The grass is hurt less by freezes when it is brown then when it is green. The water in the green grass crystallizes and damages the cells. Brown grass has less water so less damage.
IOW, you do not want to force your grass to be green up until the first snowfall.
In 30 years in the future, when 1/2 the planet is fighting water wars – history will look back and think “how stupid could the human race be p1ssing away water on something as stupid as ornamental green grass”.

Does Frazz water it before school starts?

Frazz would have to mow it if it was green. So he likes it this way.

But if I don’t have a lush, green lawn in the middle of a drought, how will everyone know how much better I am than my neighbors?

Sadly, some people seem to treat learning as a form of defeat.

My lawn is a lush green. Weeds are like that.

I’m surprised Frazz doesn’t advocate for a more natural type of lawn not requiring as much water and fertilizer.

You can tell it’s a comic strip, not reality.
When people disagree in reality, rarely does any amount of talking result in learning.
And in virtual discussions on social media, that goes double.
Which I guess makes virtual discussions more real than real ones, right?

Great comic on a great topic. Go for Xeriscape Frazz. Let the grass take care of itself.
