I’m sure the local cats and squirrels will find it handy.
It’s “code”??? Code - what does that mean.
I believe it means the “housing code” stating what a building needs in order to be deemed safe and properly-built. That’s what it means where I’m from, anyway! :-)

To meet code, the house MUST have egress to the ground in case of FIRE.
It doesn’t matter to the Code writers that birds don’t WALK out of the houses.
