I wrote lyrics to the theme song of Star Trek—Voyager.

That was a Grade 3 or 4 exercise, if I recall. My poem was rubbish, but thought about rhyming words ever after … and even memorized a number of simple, but well-known poems.

I take MY glasses off and everybody STILL recognizes me. Must’ve been a super power that I didn’t have.

My peak came when I was 10: “Vernon the vulture lived in a wood. Although mama told him he’d never be good. He ate live rabbits, live snakes, and live snails. Instead of head first he swallowed their tails.” I’ve never come close again.

One of my earliest poems was a grade school valentine that read

    Remember the moon

    Remember the stars

Remember the night we smoked cigars.

It rhymed anyway. Roy’s poem I wrote for the comic, so it’s pretty recent.
