Too late, it’s a Pandora’s box

was it the korean games where the doves flew right through the olymic cauldron just as it was lit and ‘poof’?

barcelona show a flaming arrow through a hoop-but no one said where the arrow landed.

Motreal the flame went out and was relit by a guy with his bic lighter-it had been on a day when the stadium wasn’t in use but they insisted on a whole new ceremony but I love the idea of some guy just treating it like his back yard BBQ.

Sydney the flame was lit on he floor and was to rise up, but got stuck only a few feet up leaving the kid who lit it just standing there. The only real gitch in an other wise fun opening.

China, naturally, cheated, the ‘child singing’ was lip syncing becasue they thought the real child wasn’t pretty enough, and the CGI ‘fireworks’ of foot prints becasue they thought doing it for real would be too hard.

LA was my favorite, former Olympian Raffer (sp?) Johnson, still looking incredible, held the torch over his head and it lit the ’fuse’but just the pose he struck was so basic and brilliantly classical.

Just open that other box – the one full of hawks and screech owls. They’ll clean up the population of now-feral pigeons quite quickly, and (sadly) it will symbolize the usual state of affairs in the world rather accurately.
