Forget sad endings in movies, THIS is a real reason to cry.

For parents, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Starting school before Labor Day is cruel.

The grands started yesterday. When I was a kid, it was after Labor Day.

Buck up Wilberforce, after school resumes, it’s only 180 days left until summer vacation.

Debby is long gone and menacing Georgia and the Carolinas now. We got about 8 inches of rain and lots of tree debris everywhere. Winds were pretty fierce for awhile, maybe 50 – 55 mph sustained for the whole day Sunday and most of Monday. A lot of street flooding too.

mom is looking forward to not having the kids outside screaming for no reason… the neighbor kids are loud and the windows being open from the heat does not help. :j

Go to year around school. Give little Wilby something to really “mourn” about. Odd maybe but in Bible, one can “Mourn” (weep/cry) over Sad or Good.

and soon we’ll hear the school buses…

No, this is the first week of school. I remember when kids didn’t go back to school, until after Labor Day. Now, they spend more time in school and learn less, except for wokeness.

Mourning for me started with buying school supplies. I wonder if they still have Pee-Chee® folders. That, and the little plastic pencil cases, complete with ruler. Not to mention back to school clothes and shoes.

Poor kid, I remember those days.

Where I live the new school year begins right after Labor Day. How cruel to make kids go back in the dog days of August

School is starting earlier and earlier. When I was in school it didn’t start until September 1st…

When I was a kid, by the end of summer, I was actually looking forward to the start of school for a lot of different reasons. Though we did start in the first week of September…..

A depressing time indeed.

Get a grip Wilberforce – when back to school ends you’ll be in the working world and wishing you were still in school! Just ask Dad. Btw looks like Brutus and Gladys did a little rearranging of furniture. Maybe it will confuse Gargoyle. Doubtful

I’d cry too .

It should have hit him when the back to school sales started.

Yeah, that could’ve been a bad time for some, but not for use when I reached high school. There I was so involved with band, that that consumed my world. We were already planing for band camp in a few days and then right out to the bandroom and nightly marching meetings. It was intense. But, we loved it. We had a small band the first year, but enlarged to a 100 piece band by senior year. Now, Wilbur is young and when were young we did shed a tear for the lose of freedom of summer. The projects we had started were put on hold, but we got into school and it became our life. And life lives on.

The first week or so it is a novelty.

This has moved again. Gocomics has either added or deleted something.

I wonder if Hurricane is similarly in mourning.
