    Panel 1: The Rodin Museum.

Panel 4: The Philadelphia Museum of Art.

(IMO the Rocky statue should have stayed at the sports complex, not on the Art Museum steps. But the tourists love it.)

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art had (has?) some Rodin sculptures. It was there I first saw “The Burghers of Calais.” With the story behind the sculpture, it becomes a very moving work of art. And I like “The Kiss” more than the “The Thinker”

But one sculpture nearly stopped me in my tracks in the Louvre. I had got in line early, and was hurrying from the entrance under the pyramid toward the floor with the Mona Lisa. At the bottom of the stairs I looked up and saw “The Winged Victory of Samothrace” at the top of the stairs. It was magnificent! I slowed down to take it in briefly. Nonetheless, I kept on and got to the Mona Lisa before anybody else.. To to stand close and look at leisure (for a few minutes) was great.

If Rodin is in Philly it is indeed the most important as we have a major crime going on.

I thought “The Thinker” was going to turn out to be one of those guys in costume (or body paint and hopefully at least a G-string) PRETENDING to be a statue — and he’d turn out to be wanted, too.

I used to see Rodin’s The Thinker all the time when I lived near the Art Museum. That was long before Rocky.

They removed Rocky’s statue for awhile and then final returned it due to popular demand, but instead of the greatest place of honor at the top of the stairs where it once was it’s now at the bottom of them and off to one side.

So looking at Google Maps this one is possible. Both statues (at two different Art Museums) are within a sixteen minute walk of each other.

I want to know what Peterson “did there”. Did he vandalize it? Mark it up with some stupid graffito?

Fun fact: the lady who played Adrian in Rocky also played the sister in the Godfather movies

In the sports Stadium area there’s a statue of the singer KATE SMITH—all 300 pounds of her.

The Flyers considered her version of GOD BLESS AMERICA to be lucky and played it at home games

Rodin and his followers actually did several Thinkers (and castings) in bronze and in plaster. The one in Philly is one of the bronze castings. It’s a few blocks from the Rocky statue (which has been moved since last I saw it).
