OH, MAN. . .talk about timely! I’m reading “The Personality Brokers” re: the hisotry of the Meyers-Briggs Inventory. Talk about wanting to put people in boxes! Sixteen types—some people swear by it, others disparage it. What is it about Americans that so many have to try to “type” people?? When every person is SO individual and complex. . .
Well stated! True equity— the kind talked about in DC— cannot and must not ever exist. People are individual and their personal growth depends on themselves, not artificially thrust upon them. I’ve seen it in my own family; the growth-stopping power of providing for every need into their children’s 30s. Some needs are overlooked (the power of need and incentive) while just pouring money into their accounts. One niece earned a Princeton degree and is now a stock girl in a retail store. The other niece keeps funding freeloader boyfriends while failing at her father-provided home-run business.
