You can’t just buy it, you have to earn it.

Because everybody else likes that gum too, and that’s the register that’s never open.

Thus it’s the only one that ever has any of that gum.

And yes. Break time when … certain… customers show up.

Just to make you feel ‘special.’

Pay attention to the customers and encourage the nice ones…

Many older stores were designed when checkout required slower manual keying of the prices, people writing checks and paying in cash, and therefore more clerks. Even when scanning was introduced they needed spares for inoperative scanners and weekend or holiday rushes. Many of the extra lanes disappeared as ADA measures were/are introduced.

“I have a question. Why did you ask, ‘Why is there’ instead of ‘Why are there’? There’s a pack of gum riding on your answer.”

And there you have it……..like it or not!

Next, ask him if he wants some ABC gum.

So???? Walk to that station, get the gum, then continue on with your shopping. Oy! Some peoples kids eh?

Because stores are doing you a favor, by allowing you spend your money there.
