I did not expect this pivot into body horror, but here we are.

Kinda like some stories in Greek mythology, where people are turned into trees. Possibly the best-known one is Daphne, a young huntress pursued by a love-struck Apollo. Crying for help to her father, a river god, she was turned into a laurel tree, which Apollo named as “his” tree.

If those are examples of subtle, I do not want to know what Clayton considers in-your-face.
