If you’re serious about handing out ice cream Brutus, get some from the store and give it to her. You would still be The Born Loser, losing money and all, but at least you’d be smart about it.

Poor Brutus. He not only has to support his family on the meager salary he earns, he gets Hurricane Hattie hitting him up for ice cream money.

I remember a saying that if when you loan somebody money, expect to never get it back.

The phrase, “Guess what, so am I” comes to mind and no other “loans” should be made until the first “loan” is paid off. She is a neighbor and not a daughter, a disrespectful one at that. At least Wimpy in the Popeye comics said, “l will gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger today”. Whether he ever did, we never found out. However, the promise was made. I might trust him, but not Hattie……

My hunch is Hattie’s parents at one time told her to go bother Brutus to get her out of their hair. Then she used her own instincts to become the accomplished grifter she is today. Brutus aided and abetted.
