Quite a few years ago, my husband was standing outside a grocery store, wearing his grimy work clothes, drinking a cup of coffee, while waiting for his brother to get done in the store. A woman walked over, stuck a dollar bill in his coffee cup and told him have a nice day. He called & told me what happened & said, “I must look pretty rough”.
My husband, back when he was single, needed change for the laundrymat, but they only accepted quarters. He asked a lady who was passing by if she had a quarter for his two dimes and a nickel. She wouldn’t accept it and said “I hope you don’t buy drugs with that.”
My husband is an electrical engineer designing electric engines. He just stood there stone faced and shocked—then realized he hadn’t shaved and his clothes were word and torn.

Basing your actions on untested assumptions is a gamble that doesn’t always work out. But it is a risk we all take.

Coke cleans coins. I don’t think coffee does.
