In today’s installment, the Web site AlterNet ran an informal poll of its own. Here are the question, and the votes, taken directly from their poll page:
Should Vice President Kamala Harris be the next president?
Yes – (10657) votes
No – (947) votes
That’s approximately 11.25 times as many votes for Harris as votes against. If that ratio holds true (as it might do) for the 05 Nov 24 General Election as well, it will be devastating to any hope Donald Dump has held of challenging the election – and as a result, there is no way he would obtain 280 electoral votes. In addition, it would be the somewhere near the highest Electoral count for the next President at least since FDR won with 73.7 98% of the popular vote and 98.49% of the Electoral votes.
However I don’t, in reality, expect anything like that kind of a blowout. Based upon all the women and young people who are rushing right now to get registered to vote, and the constant barrage of voter anger that JD Vance is stirring, what I do expect to see is perhaps a 3 – 1 or 4 – 1 popular advantage for Harris, and her carrying a large part (perhaps as much as 65%) of the Electoral votes.
