This pattern of spiral-down thinking is very human, Bob. Negative memories stick like cockleburs in the mind. Pick them off, put them in a mental box, close the lid, and focus on something or someone uplifting.
Might I suggest you read today’s Pearls Before Swine to realize that life’s too short to wallow in self-destructive thinking. Hug someone. Eat a cookie. Doodle happy circles and swirls. Sit outside in sunshine or rain. Listen to music you loved as a teenager. Then do something, anything, that is a step toward a goal. You’re welcome.
