Yup. Spot on. There is a movement of folks intentionally using cash to keep it alive. I am one of them.
Now, we also need to recognize that the dollars we have are not “REAL” cash. They are “Federal Reserve notes”. Just printed promissory notes for payment. Excessively printed for political and government spending – causing massive inflation.
We only take cash at our business, we own the ATM and stock it. It’s a significant source of revenue. Now I know why banks want you to use a card to buy a bag of peanuts.
I have favorite stores where I will only use cash. The owners asked why, and I told them that I didn’t think it was fair they had to pay a percentage of my purchase to honor credit cards. Big Box stores, I really don’t care, so I use cards there.
In case this happens to me, I carry a check in my wallet. Since I started paying for nearly everything with my first debit card, around 35 years ago, I think I had to resort to using it once.
Wrong you are! There are a number of restaurants in my area that charge more for credit cards, they prefer cash. Look around and there are many ways cash is still king.

I think it’s been over 15 years since I’ve written a check.

Or in a pharmacutical transaction…

Wrote a check last week for our puppy’s dog license. Some contractors would rather have a check instead of paying fees for credit cards.

Don’t carry much cash anymore so I’d be out of luck. I write few checks anymore.

Still think it’s a federal law that they have to accept cash.

A few places near us don’t take cash. I don’t blame them, less chance of getting robbed.

We have a few restaurants that ONLY take cash. They have ATMs on the premises for customers to use.

They’d rather take a personal check than cash?
