The tin can was invented in 1810 and the can opener was invented in 1858.

Hope they have piped in water. And that is not nearly enough toilet paper!

The number of videos and articles on how to open a can without a can opener is amazing.

We have enough for a week or so lockdown. We also have go-bags but don’t really anticipate needing them. We live in an area usually unaffected by hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, big blizzards or wild fires. But it never hurts to have them ready.

Find a spoon and I’ll show you how to safely open it. Or a knife but know that’s a little riskier.

I remember the “forgot the can opener” nuclear bunker gag being used in a Gary Larson cartoon. I guess it’s a common one.

There was a British comedy short film called “Three Men in a Boat” about a similar situation.

Kind of extreme to avoid all the political commercials. You could just not turn the TV and radio on.
