Labor Day definitely means less to me personally since I’ve retired, but I vicariously enjoy the holiday through my kids. It’s an adjustment I’ve been quite happy to make.
to comment, to comment – what would I say – with somebody sure to be offended today. by simple words that can easily be ignored, but then what good is free speech when you’ll only be bored? so happy labor, whichever way you take it, but enjoy it if you can and try not to fake it!!!!
I worked for over 50 years, started cleaning office buildings when I was 13. The rest of my jobs beat me up good, my back and knees are shot, and horrible tinnitus. I still feel a bit guilty celebrating Labor Day. I’m getting over it today by smoking six racks of ribs and feeding the neighbors, who are still working.
Uncle Ted is clearly amused by Wilberforce’s question although his coffee steam doesn’t seem so impressed! Nice shout out to Case Western Reserve University Chip!
Why not? Sadly, the day has lost much of its significance over the years so that it is just another 3 day weekend. So all you workers and laborers, celebrate. It was your efforts that contributed to this country’s greatness. Aloha from Hawaii……
honor uncle ted for his previous labors. i don’t really have a choice, but i’m not sure whether i’m envious of folks who could retire. my stingy pension ensures that i’ll be working ’til the day i die. unless of course i hit the jackpot… ☺

Uncle Ted retired from something to get this far. Give him a hug and top off his coffee.

Save it for the laborers, Uncle Ted should honor the next generation of laborers. Retired and in my opinion

I’m retired, but I have a To Do list. Until my list is empty I’ll accept being honored.

I am 70 years old and never really retired. Why should I. I keep others employed and that works for me.

Brutus is likely slaving at work overtime – and will get home just in time to cookout. Happy safe Labor Day All and to those retired.

I worked for 50 years before retiring. All those years don’t just vanish although I wish some of the memories would.

Where I work, we get paid holiday pay for some days, whether we actually work or not. Hoping today is one of those days ;)
