This time of year with sales, I pick up large pencil boxes cheap. Great for storing small articles.
Our only requirements were a 3-binder and matching paper. Pencil – grades 1st-3rd grades). Pen -(4th &5th grades a cartride pens) (6th & 7th grades ball point pens). Still have a few dried up cartridges and fountain pens.
Me suspects a bit of collusion… ☺

It works the same way in college. The professor requires you to buy the textbook he wrote.
I definitely don’t miss those days!
