Well, desert spiders don’t want a humid climate. There’s no such thing as a dark climate. And a tarantula only needs one place to burrow (and only the type that make burrows).
What about trap door spiders?
Or this could be a con to get him to clean his room. I don’t remember actually seeing the critter.
I guess he’ll have to clean his room one “nope, not here” at a time.

I wouldn’t be going in there if there was a chance of meeting a tarantula.
Hmmm, 3 mice, a garter snake, 5-and-a-half earthworms, a scorpion, 1 ant farm, and a raccoon—but no tarantula, sorry!
