I won one game of chess at the library yesterday. And lost 3. My record is now 6 109 0. Can you tell I’m a beginner? The person I was playing with, had lost all but his 2 rooks and all his pawns. He lost his queen by the third move. He said he prefers to keep his future queens. We both thought that was the funniest line ever.

Of course, humans are neither black nor white. With a couple of exceptions, they’re all different shades of brown.

They should have used backgammon for the punchline. In chess, there’s a clear advantage to being white, so you choose blindly or alternate.
