Color television was the enabling medium that enabled high-calorie “pushers” to invade our homes and thoughts. Today, every form of enhancement is used to present such products in the best light to evoke desire. If they could make us smell those bacony burgers in 3D, we’d all have to be rolled around on trolleys. :(
There are very, very, very few ads about fruits and vegetables because we would naturally prefer them, if not persuaded otherwise, and the markup is not as high.
