The world of Joe is about to get smaller again. Almost like living in a small town.

How does he know the officer will go bat-skit crazy over meeting Marcus Glover… Or is it safe to assume any officer would go crazy at such a meeting?

We’ve lived in the Philly area since 1988, and it does feel like a small town in some ways. Once you get through the crusty exterior, you find Philadelphians are soft and gooey. And multi-multi-generational. My wife was born and raised here, and her family dates back to the mid-1700s. Her 5-times great-grandfather is buried less than three miles from our house, and her 5x-great-uncle owned a farm in the early-1800s where we now shop at Walmart and Home Depot. Her great-grandfather cheered for the same Phillies in the 1880s that we do in the 2020s. Streets and schools are named after various ancestors of hers, and she’s related by blood to Richard the Lion-Hearted.

Philly’s been a small town at its heart, going back to the 1600s, when it WAS a small town.

Today, we lay to rest Philadelphia police officer Jaime Roman, who succumbed to gunfire at the age of 31 after being shot at a traffic stop. Rest in peace, badge 6064. He left behind a wife and 2 kids.

Oh, it’s about to get awkward – love the setup!!

In panel 3, it looks like Peterson is bracing the diagonal between the two locations.

It’s gonna get pretty awkward with Peterson around.

OK, it seems I’m missing some background here. What’s going to get awkward?

Marcus is related to Joe, Peterson has expressed time and time again that Joe should introduce the two. Peterson is ultimate fan of Marcus. The akwardness will be Peterson going gaga over Marcus.

Kris can’t really go out now to grab a bite. He is busy with the officer. Nicole should offer to bring lunch to him. He can’t just leave in the middle of the investigation.

There is no reason at all that Kris would think this would get awkward. He has no idea that Peterson wants to meet Marcus.

“Hope it doesn’t get awkward!” – AH! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
