Connie: I think John's a good guy, El. He's honest, reliable... a good dad - Elly: I know. I just wish I could get him to do more of the chores. Connie: Like what? Elly: I dunno... dishes, laundry - Connie: But, you hate the way he does dishes and laundry! Elly: Yeah - but I appreciate the gesture!

Isn’t that a dishwasher under the counter Elly is standing in front of?

Yeah but remember you have to rinse them off using one of those scrubby things before you put them in the dishwasher

Problem is when they help they don’t do it “our” way (meaning the “right” way) so we criticize and tell them how to do it “right” and they rebel and decide not to help anymore. Sometimes I’ve had to rewash the dishes after my husband finished with them but oh well!

Summerdog, yes the dishwasher was under the counter Elly stood in front of! Next time use the thick lens of eyeglasses to put on yours and look closer that strip….. (click!)

I’m a guy, and I don’t have a dishwasher in my apartment, so I have to do dishes by hand. I occasionally house-sit for a friend who has a dishwasher, but I can’t figure out how to load it “correctly”, so I take my dishpan and liquid over there and do dishes by hand. That way, the plates get cleaned right the first time – the dishwasher doesn’t always remove all the gunk.

Inconsistancy alert -
John didn’t buy Elly the dish washer until he got his first sports car. Elizabeth would have been in grade school then.
