I once had jury duty that took four days to select a jury. Each day they took roll and on the third day the judge called a name and he answered “Here.” The judge asked him why he hadn’t been there before and he said “I couldn’t make it.” The judge then asked him if he would be there the following day and the guy said “I don’t know - we’ll see.” The judge then said “You will be here tomorrow - lock him up.” Two deputies took him by the arm and led him away. The next day we filed in from the rear and he came in with 2 deputies from the side door. When they called roll he answered “Here” and the judge looked at him, smiled, and said “Glad to see you could make it.” Needless to say that ended the rest of the comedians in the jury venire.

JUDGE: “Are you trying to show contempt for this court?”

A lawyer who has himself for a client is a fool.
