The best hiding spot I know of is to keep changing them.

My dad accidently turned our dryer on with our cat in it once. Coincidently our cat was also called Garfield and he was supposed to be going to the vet that day
Cat was fine and was only in there for 2 seconds. He was in there because the washing was warm but still a little damp, hence why by dad turned it on. He didn’t see him because he was right near the back of the dryer

PLEASE WATCH YOUR CATS SAFETY, they do like to jump in dryers.
