I’ve never understood why anybody smokes anything, but I’ve been downwind of cigars from time to time and I really don’t understand why anybody would smoke those!
My first (and only) poker game was years ago, out in a cabin in the woods. We were told to bring loads of change … I had $15 in dimes and quarters. Beer was served. My fellow card players instructed me for the first couple of hands, so it was very friendly. Lady Luck, however was smiling on me, and except for a couple of initial hands, I ended up cleaning up … taking every coin from the table. I was never invited back!
I remember once being invited to play in a money Poker game. The first couple of hands were played so fast, I couldn’t tell what had happened. Then I realized… I was the “mark”. I exited…
Back in the 1960’s, when I had my first full time job after a hitch in the Marines, almost everybody smoked. Our engineering office had 30 people, and every desk had a well-used ashtray.

My mother’s family used to get together to talk while playing poker. Each had a jar of pennies

I never saw Monty smoking anything before. He must be trying to project a tough guy image.
