Keir Starmer is catching grief for accepting seats in a corporate suite for his Arsenal FC though his logic for accepting the freebie is that if he sat in his former season ticket seats, the security costs associated with protecting him would cost many times more than the value of his upgraded seats. Nice try Keir………
Just out of curiosity, who is the last POTUS to have season tickets to a pro team: Shrub 43 or perhaps his old man, 41, who used to be seen regularly at Minute Maid Park following the Astros? I do not recall Biden attending any sporting events and the Trumpster spends most of his time on the golf course though he did help bankrupt the USFL back in the ’80s as the owner of the NJ Generals when he led that ill-advised anti-trust lawsuit against the NFL……
NYT/The Athletic writer Jeff Pearlman accurately described how the Trumpster managed to take a product, the USFL, that was relatively successful from 1983-1985 and destroyed it by stating the following: “Donald Trump turned the USFL, like pretty almost everything else he touches, into a heaping pile of worm-infested dog feces …” Bravo Mr Pearlman!
Al Davis’ dream. I remember reading an article in a doctor’s office in the 1980s about cable TV and the “opportunities” Al Davis saw in pay-per-view culminating with a PPV Super Bowl and eventually filtering down to regular season games. Something like that is already happening with the leagues selling packages based on favourite teams. Transplants from Cleveland can watch live all of the Brown’s games even if they live in Montana or Los Angeles for a fee and other options. Why is beyond me, but there it is.

Saw this on the old Smothers Brothers show. Same joke but I’m sure it’s been around forever.

I detect a lot of envy in this strip/comments.How about agitating for removal of tax benefits for ticket purchases instead?

I never disliked peacocks until they named an unaffordable cable company after them
