Everybody knows the assassination was staged so that he could leave office early. You can tell it was staged because it took place in a theatre.

That reminds me of when I was called by a canvasser asking if I planned to vote for the incumbent (who was a sure winner unless someone came up with legitimate photos of the person in a compromising position with Fidel Castro). When I answered “No” I was asked who I would be voting for. I answered Senator Palpatine*. I was then told I couldn’t vote for him when I asked why. The answer But He’s a Senator.

*For those unaware Senator Palpatine became better known as "Darth Sidious.
