I’m hoping a lot of eyes will be on today’s comic soon. I belong to a large and thriving scambaiting community and I’m serious about doing my part of bring attention to the issue of scamming. Most scam victims are older. In this case, it’s an adult son who has some cognitive vulnerabilities. Scammers don’t care who you are. They will take everything they can from you. Drain your bank accounts. Leave you homeless. There are many stories of victims taking their lives.
Years ago, when my parents were still alive, scam phone calls were more frequent and irritating because they weren’t as easily blocked as now. Still, they had to answer lest a sick relative needed help.
So they took turns answering the phone and pretended to speak in foreign languages to baffle the scammers. Between them they had smatterings of other languages from their childhoods. They got a big kick out of baffling the bogus callers — cheap laughs. My father was especially good at double-talk.
About 16 years ago when my mother was still alive and very elderly, she was hit by some Russian “sweepstakes scammers.” She lost about $6,000, but if it had not been for quick work by her bank and the grace of God, it would have been more like $70,000. At least one of the gang was arrested by the FBI and the RCMP in Canada, and spent around 10 years in prison. I have no idea what happened after he was released, but knowing these drones it would not surprise me if he went right back to scamming. I hate these people with the fury of a thousand blue-hot suns; thank you for doing your best to raise awareness of the “advance fee” fraud.
There are some scam busters on YouTube … I turned a friend in Texas onto them … “Scammer Payback” is a favorite of mine but has lately become very commercialized … still entertaining, though …!
( I know Teresa has a fave too, but can’t remember who )
One new word, Bombaclot, led me to another where it claimed bombaclot is the new Sco pa tu manaa. Supposedly a nonsense word used by a Ghanaian rapper, it is also widespread in Hawaiian culture.
Cursing can be invigorating when done in a foreign language!

While I oft-times think life is a scam, I am not that far gone. Peace, in lieu of pieces.

Hey, Scammers. Here’s a pop quiz for you. Explain the difference:
“Help, a scammer!” versus “Help a scammer!”
“I love scamming, my mother, and my rooster.” versus “I love scamming my mother and my rooster.”
