I had a Labrador Retriever as a kid. The first time we went to a lake, she wouldn’t go into the water. We finally just tossed her in and she seemed to like it. Later, we were fishing from the shore but had to quit because she kept swimming out and trying to retrieve our bobbers. At the end of the day, we had to haul her out of the water. Had she not been the runt of the litter (and she was small), she would probably have made a very good bird dog.

Oh yeah, you just need the right catalyst to act on the dog.
