is that 40k per semester or per year? Back when this was first printed i would think 40K would be too steep for even the most ivy league school.

$40K for a diploma mill like Walden? I though college was expensive when I went in the ’80s. Now I know it was a bargain.

I’m really getting old. I remember this strip when it was new.

When I was in college, the tuition was about $1K/semester for dorm students. Now this same college has become a university and it has raised its tuition to nearly 25 times that amount. Over 90% of the students require some form of financial assistance whether it be loans, grants, scholarships, or working at a job.

Classwork: our local college puts their biggest emphasis on sports and sports facilities. They land they’ve bought (and taken off the tax rolls) and the money they’ve spent on new fields and supporting structures is staggering. Meanwhile, their academic achievements rarely make the news; once – twice a year if we’re lucky.

Wow, it is amazing to me how this strip was going to every subject possible and avoiding talking about what was the main thing going on in 2001 & 2002. The lead up to War in Iraq and W’s campaign for weapons of mass destruction is going on, but No, let’s dwell on the idiots at Walden instead ? Fear of being labeled unpatriotic was a real thing back in these days, wasn’t it? Happy Monday Folks 8 days left, Vote Yet ??? ;-)

Of course, classwork stops every time one of these numerous tours comes through.

Unless you get a degree in Medicine, Teaching, Engineering, or have really good connections for your liberal arts degree, college is one big scam to get your money.
