We once went to one where the ( very young) hostess had 4 couples sit at the dining room table. She then passed potato chips ( in the bag) and cheese on crackers. Her husband passed out martinis. We sat there awkwardly and sipped our weak drinks. The party lasted about an hour and a half when all of us remembers we had to go home.
If you are going to invite someone to a diner party at least try to have a dinner available. If you can’t afford a dinner, invite just for snacks, play some games, watch a sports event or movie. I am not a cook but can at least know how to thaw basics and dress them up.

That’s why anyone who knows her properly didn’t go.

It’s always better to bring an appetiser, just in case…

I’ve read about a lot of these No Food dinners online. My mother would serve enough food to feed an army!!

So it was a pot no-luck party.

When I’m invited somewhere, I never bring myself. I’d be shunned or reported to the cops.
