I was going through some old newspapers – 60s and 70s – the other day glancing at some old comic strips. Seeing the old writing style and older familiar artwork really makes the current day strip sickening. I still find it hard to believe this poor quality material actually goes to press. I would settle for the quality art of Luann to be acceptable. Reading Gil Thorp I find it difficult to recognize the same character from day to day. Sometimes from panel to panel. It looks like I’m out of here as of now.

The Milford, OH Eagles traveled to Turpin after dinner last night where the regular season finale blew up on them as the host Spartans posted a 24-21 win over the visitors to end their season with a 4-6 overall record. Broaching the subject of second in the Valley (aka Eastern Cincinnati Conference), the Eagles finished 3-6 landing in an anorexic 7th place in Valley. Milford is the projected eleven seed in the Division 1, Region 4 OHSAA meat grinder playoff bracket with a hungry and thirsty opponent awaiting their arrival next week.

Somebody has to say it -- this new artist just has to go !!!!Gil is ow 7 ft. tall. Beth lost her good looks. And Keri —no gaudy earrings?— now has her bangs covering her entire face ?And I thought yesterday’s strip was as bad as it could get .

Gil’s letting himself go, now that he doesn’t have to do any coaching. Well, he rarely does anyway, but now he officially is not supposed to be coaching. An observation. If Henry would take the time to write Gil Thorp the way he writes his graphic novels and if Rachel put the time in to do the Gil Thorp art the way she does art for her contract clients then Gil Thorp could be one fine strip.Too bad that this strip is only a pay check for them and they don’t care to give it any time of value.

the artwork has become terrible

Gil is looking edgy today. He’s thinking of going with the “Paulie Walnuts” hair and contemplating a face tattoo so people will know who he is.

Is someone new doing the artwork?

`okay, no one stays on model from panel to panel. Is that Gil? Who knows? Vulcan in panel 2.

Writing and Art: Everybody sing – 2 of these things belong together, two of these things are kinda the same, two of these things show up together The art and the story are now both lame.
