Great Caesar’s Ghost, we’re back to this now?

If today’s premise is “If Amazon took kids to school,” why does the art appear to show Mitch (who canonically is 5 1/2 years old) being dropped off back home? Wouldn’t the driver take a picture of him at the school?

This could really happen! Maybe Batiuk gave Amazon a good idea to “mull” over at their next corporate meeting.

Don’t give Bezos ideas. He might acquire Laidlaw just for the fun of it.

I was sitting in my living room when Alexa dinged and said my Amazon package had been delivered. No one had come to the house. I called, and they said “Sometimes the drivers mark items ‘delivered’ before they deliver them. Please wait 24-48 hours and call back.” I never did get the package.

Delivered to Forest Park Road instead of Forest Point Drive. Delivered to Lake Point Drive instead of Harbor Point Drive. Delivered to 3855 instead of 3825. Delivered to the mailbox (which is illegal) instead of the front door. And yes, I know USPS has their issues as well.

But the main thing with Amazon drivers, they often break the law, driving on the wrong side of the road, parking illegally, and while not illegal, but very unsafe, pull forward into driveways having to back out into traffic.

Amazon is too involved in American life. Don’t put this past them, especially if it adds to profits.

My beef is why is “If Amazon took kids to school” in single quotes instead of double?

So the bus driver takes Mitch’s picture before he gets on the bus. Then sends that picture as proof of him being delivered? No, we need a picture of Mitch at the school. This seems fishy. I think Mitch is being trafficked!

Maybe 55 or so years ago, I remember reading the introduction to a collection of BC strips. The writer (I forget who it was, but I remember it was a well-respected cartoonist in the Sixties) commented on Johnny Hart’s ability to convey so much setting with just a few strokes of the pen. In a sort of anonymous comment about Chester Gould (who was still drawing Dick Tracy in those days), he described “rivet men,” the artists who would draw “every rivet on every boiler.” His comment that “when you put two unshaven cavemen in front of a line that could be the side of a volcano or a rainbow, you’d better know what you’re doing” said a lot about which artists he thought were more skilled.

I remember this quote when I look at a Crankshaft or FW strip in which the school bus is drawn in loving detail (indeed, every rivet is there), I suspect by Batiuk himself in the early days of the comic, but the characters are more cartoony (Ayers? slightly adjusted by Davis?). I’m not as sure as the introduction-writer that one style is really better than the other, but I do recognize a clash between generations of clip art…

Just wait it will happen some day. Those school busses would go from yellow to black in color with the swoosh prime logo on it. Back in the early days you got your packages on time but not so much these days
